Must-Have Lighting + Placement Guide

Hi friends!

Okay so we have talked about the importance of both plumbing and lighting in the beginning phases of design. There is a lot to account for when your walls are exposed and some crucial decisions need to be made! If you haven’t read this post: Creating Your Electrical Plan now is the time! But instead of focusing on rough electrical, this post will focus on your lighting fixtures and how to place fixtures in your home.

The first thing to decide is what style of home you will be designing. Are you building a traditional home? Modern Farmhouse? Minimalist? Knowing your aesthetic will help nail down your lighting options as there are so many beautiful options to choose from! Lucky for you, we just added to many new light fixtures to the Shop!

T’s Tip: We try to stick with one main lighting finish, such as Matte Black or Oil Rubbed Bronze throughout the home to create a sense of cohesion. Then, we choose complementary finishes like a brass or woven rattan material in other statement areas of the home to create a “pop” or area of interest. Lighting can truly be the “wow” factor in a room if you so choose!

Check out our lighting placement guide below, as well as some of our favorite fixtures.
